Hi Folks,
Hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. It is that time of year again to renew your membership. If you are receiving this letter by email, please go the website (www.achrc.com/memberfrm.html) and print a membership form and send it to the address provided on the form. If you have children showing, please add their names and age so we can enter them in the correct age groups for awards. Family membership $25.00 – Individual membership $10.00. Senior citizen (62 and Older ) Free – fill in form and indicate that you are a senior citizen.

Happenings in 2006:

April 22 – Miss Rebekah Waldrop was crowned the ACHRC Queen – Miss Kendall Gillespie, Alternate – Miss Rebekah Smith, Horsemanship – Miss Hannah Machen, Miss Congeniality.

August 5 – ACHRC James Abney Memorial Scholarship awarded to Miss Katie Turner.

Sept.1 – Sept.3 – several of our club members participated in the Alabama Open Horse Association Championship horse show. Congratulations to: Stephanie Boyington & A Blazin Delight, Youth Western Pleasure Division Reserve Champion & Broke Hazel & I’M A Huntin’ Fool Third Place Youth Division Western Pleasure; Mary Kay Hill & Barpassers Sundae Adult Western Pleasure Champion,& Donna Tucker & A Pretty Investment 3rd overall Adult Western Pleasure Champion; Tulsa Cabaniss & Soxie Pony Pleasure Champion & Kathyrn Tucker & Pee Wee Pistol, 3rd place overall Pony Pleasure Division Champion; Jessica Yates & Night Shades Threat, Champion, Adult Gaited Division & Mary Crossley & Final Justice 3rd Place overall Adult Gaited Racking Division. We also had several classes champions as well as reserve champions. Congratulations to all that placed and good luck next year at the AOHA championship show.

October 7th – we had our second Allen Ingle Memorial Walking Horse Event. The 1st Saturday in October each year is designated to be our walking horse show. We appreciate all the members that helped work at this show. Without your support, it would not have been as successful.

November 9th – the election of officers were elected at the regular meeting. Officers for 2007 – President Jimmy Avery, Vice President Sidney Yates, Secretary Dereider Crew, Treasurer Nan Ingle; Board of Directors, Pat Avery, Barbara Barrentine, Harry Crew, Nita Henderson, Jessica Hodnett, Nan Ingle, Wanda Robbins, and Sidney Yates. The board members will serve as committee members for shows and trail rides.

November 11th – the East Alabama Horseman Association held their awards supper with several of our club members receiving High Point awards – see our website for winners.

December 2nd– The club held our annual Awards and Christmas supper. This year the Club donated $1,000.00 to the Gateway to Education with Ms. Susie Kelley accepting the donation. The 2006 Awards were presented to our Champions and Reserve Champions. See the website for a list of winners.

February 6 – Dr. Clay Reynolds will be at the Alex City Arena at 6:00 p.m. to do coggins test.

April 21 – ACHRC Queen Contest – any young lady between ages of 12 and 17 that was a member of East Alabama Horseman’s Association in 2006 is eligible to participate in the contest. See Jessica Hodnett or Carrie Jones for applications.

May & September – Trail ride dates will be announced at a later date – watch for dates on the website – www.achrc.com

August 4th – the Alex City Horse Riding Club / James Abney Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior or college student that qualifies for the scholarship.

Club meetings are held each second Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Arena. All club members are welcome to attend the meeting.

Practice days at the arena have not changed…..You may use the arena to ride your horse if you are a member.

The committee members will be making plans for the events that will be held this year. If called on to work, please do so. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Hope to see you at the events.
