Alexander City Horse Riding Club (ACHRC), is a member club of the East Alabama Horseman’s Association. The club was originally established in 1963, held horse shows, ropings and trail rides. The Club became dormant for a number of years before it was reopened in 1989, with Mr. Nick Fuller as President. The current President, Mr. Jimmy Avery. took office in 1991. The Club’s first show season (1990) ACHRC shows were held at the Rockford Arena, in Hissop, AL, while the Club’s arena was under construction in the Charles E. Bailey Sportplex. The Club’s first horse show held at their ACHRC arena, was on April, 13, 1991 and the last, an East Alabama Horseman’s Association season closer show was held on August 12, 2023. Property was purchased later in 2023 and plans and preparations were under way for the new facility. As of February 2025, the new arena is constructed but still a lot more work to be done before the facility is ready for its first event. In the meantime, the 2025 ACHRC horse shows will be hosted at the Walkabout Ranch Arena in New Site, Alabama.
The Alexander City Horse Show Club is for horse enthusiasts of all ages.
The Club currently hosts horse shows for members and nonmembers to participate. New members are always welcome!
Membership Benefits
During 2025, ACHRC members may ride at the Walkabout Ranch arena any day they chose, other than when there is a scheduled show or another event at that arena; if riding at a time that requires the lights to be turned on, a light fee will be due. Please be considerate of others who may show up to practice at the same time.
Members earn points and show credits at the shows hosted by ACHRC.
Points and show credits earned are toward:
- ACHRC year-end awards
- East Alabama Horseman’s Association (EAHA) year-end awards
- EAHA Youth Club year-end awards
- Qualification to show at the Alabama Open Horseman Association’s State Championship Horse Show
